A common "type scene" is one in which a hero in battle has his finest moments, called an aristeia (aristos = best).
The elements of the scene and the order in which they appear are:
arming scene
brilliance of armor/hero
exhortation to followers
initial exploit
setback (wounding)
divine inspiration
renewed exploits
double simile
the kill
taunting the victim
